What is chemo-informatics?

The study of chemoinformatics encompasses the design, creation, organization, management, retrieval, analysis, dissemination, vizualization and utilization of chemical information. The primary goal is to solve chemical problems.

The workshop aims:

  • To familiarize the participants with applications of bioinformatics in drug discovery.
  • To familiarize the participants with applications of chemoinformatics and computational biology in drug designing.
  • To acquaint participants with the current approaches of rational drug designing for specific, and non-toxic small-molecules through guided practicals.
  • To acquaint participants with in silico chemical and structural fingerprinting, designing and preparation of lead molecules for drug designing and various tools and techniques of bioinformatics and molecular modeling, docking and dynamics methods.

Salient Features of the Workshop


Unlike conventional workshops, our workshop cum expert talks event is designed in such a way that students are made to interact with eminent professionals and scientists from the Industry. Students typically attend workshops without preparing in advance and are often overwhelmed with the quantity of new material they are being taught. These challenges are addressed by incorporating pre workshop lecture, which helps to prepare students for workshop by introducing them to key concepts in a structured way.

Further workshop groups will study problems with hands-on examples using computational chemistry methods and discuss issues highlighted by examples and Case Studies presented by instructors. A Case Study set with a focus on chemical database creation and filtering drug like compounds will be used to link all workshop activities throughout the workshop.
